The work you all do will multiply in blessings.

One patient advocate came across a patient account when she noticed the copays owed for her medication were increasing, and really wanted to help her. She is a Medicare patient and would only be covered through a diagnosed-based foundation. Also, she is a survivor of breast cancer and uses treatment to block estrogen receptors.

Our patient advocate reached out to her son and daughter because the patient did not want to speak to anyone in the financial department as she was overwhelmed. Finally, a few weeks later, the patient called her patient advocate, and it was an immediate bond between them. Through Atlas, she was enrolled into a breast cancer fund for Medicare Patients through the Patient Access Network Foundation and paid most of her copays from that year. Following this success, her treatment changed and the foundation wouldn’t cover her new medicine. However, our patient advocate knew she had to find a way.

When she spoke with the patient later, she said, “the work you all already do, will multiply in blessings.” She was hopeful we were going to have an amazing year to continue doing this great work for all patients. Advocacy for patients moves mountains: as of this year, the patient was granted $16,000 through Patient Advocate Foundation to cover her medication through the beginning of next year! Our patient advocate shared, “being a patient advocate has been a life-changing experience, and like the patient, I am thankful to touch the lives of many other patients with countless stories, lifting one financial burden at a time.”
