One of our patient advocates began working with a Medicare patient who receives Imfinzi infusions once a month. This family is on a fixed income and the 20% coinsurance for each infusion is almost $2,000. The patient informed our advocate that because the bills piled up so quickly, they would lay awake with worry at night, trying to decide which bills they were going to pay that month. When the patient shared that in order to pay for his treatments, they have been unable to afford the basic of necessities such as food, our advocate was dedicated to finding a solution.
Not only was our advocate able to secure him a grant approval through CancerCare, but she received the approval for Imfinzi free drug assistance. When our advocate called the patient, she could hear the instant sound of relief in his voice. The family was very emotional, thanking our advocate from the bottom of their hearts. They had been so lost and overwhelmed and Atlas was able to lift that burden off their shoulders.
