Disease/diagnosis: Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

Drug(s): Gazyva and Calquence

Program(s): Healthwell Foundation Grant, PAN (Patient Access Network Foundation), AZ&Me (Astra Zeneca & Me)

Cost covered: $109,083.03 (So far – total from 11/2022 to September 2023)

I am so lucky to have had you work on my side.

One of our patient advocates who focuses primarily on foundations and co-pay assistance programs has a particular patient who gets anxious every time bills are sent. She always works to ensure she approaches the calls in the kindest way, explaining how the assistance programs will help. Just recently, she was able to drop his responsibility amounts for Gazyva from over $2,000 down to just $700 through Atlas.

When she reviewed his grant for Calquence, which had covered around $7500 of medication, she found that he didn’t have enough left in his funding to continue coverage.  After consulting with the Patient Assistance Network Foundation providing the grant and learning he wouldn't be eligible for more funding, she proceeded to enroll him into a free drug program through the Astra Zeneca & Me patient assistance foundation.

He now receives 2 months’ worth of medication at a time through the free drug program! The full price of his medication is $11,139.67 for a month’s supply, so he receives $22,279.34 in free medication every two months and will continue to do so until his cancer is in remission, or his physician changes his care plan.
